One of the three criteria to qualify for the Safety section of the Ring the Bell Unit Recognition Program is for at least half of your unit’s direct contact leaders (DCLs) to complete Incident Reduction and Reporting training. A DCL is an adult who has direct contact with youth, such as Cubmasters, Scoutmasters, den leaders, and assistants. All volunteers in the council are encouraged to attend the course, however.
Incident Reduction and Reporting training is a free course that provides an overview of our organization’s safety policies, resources, and reporting procedures. This course is offered as an approx. 45-minute virtual instructor-led training via Zoom webinar to make it as convenient as possible. Registration is required.
Leaders who have previously completed this course don’t need to retake it to count for Ring the Bell recognition this year.
