First Aid and CPR resource needs should be determined based on the type and level of activity to be performed.
The basic types of First Aid and CPR are:
- CPR- especially involving strenuous and aquatic activities.
- Basic First Aid- recommended for any activity
- Wilderness First Aid (WFA)- at least one person should be trained in WFA for remote high adventures (defined as being an hour or more away from advance care). All four of the BSA high-adventure bases (HAB) require at least one person per trek (two per trek at Philmont Scout Ranch) to be current in WFA through an approved provider.
First Aid and CPR Courses may be offered by Council. However, this training can be taken from any BSA approved provider.
