Donating stocks allows you to avoid capital gains tax and often take a charitable deduction for the full value of the asset. To make a gift of securities or mutual fund shares to Cradle of Liberty Council, please contact Brian Pinto, Chief Development Officer, at 484-654-9209, or brian.pinto@scouting.org, signifying the name(s) of the stock(s) being transferred, the approximate number of shares and the specific purpose/intent of the stock gift so that the proceeds/monies will be entered into the correct account.
Our office works closely with UBS Financial Services to provide our donors with the highest level of service. This relationship enables us to record your gifts and put them to work as quickly as possible. The brokerage account and detailed instructions for making gifts of securities are below.

For Electronic Transfer of Stock:
Please ask your broker to electronically transfer the stock to the Cradle of Liberty Council BSA brokerage account. It is important that the stock gift is transferred to our brokerage account.
To promptly and accurately credit a security gift to the appropriate donor, it is essential that the transfer instructions include the donor’s name and address. Without this information, we are occasionally unable to identify the donors of certain securities.
Our Controller will request from our Broker at UBS Financial Services Inc. the high and low value of the stock gift on the date of the gift. The Council will use the average price as the value of the gift from the donor. The date of the stock gift is the date the stock is deposited into our account and ownership is transferred to the Cradle of Liberty Council, BSA. This date may or may not be the same day you instructed your broker to make the transfer. As there are several steps and people involved, transfer times can vary from same day to up to five days. Delays are especially likely during certain periods, such as the end of the calendar year.
If you are 70.5 or older, giving a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) from your IRA can help reduce your taxable income — and for those over 73 who must take a Required Minimum Distribution (RMD), an IRA gift is a simple way to fulfill it. Qualified Charitable Distributions count toward your Required Minimum Distribution, effectively lower your adjusted gross income, and can bring about important tax benefits.
