Here are the key steps to run a successful district or council-level event for Scouts and leaders:
NOTE – the following holidays have been determined as dates that District or Council events should not be held to avoid conflicting with a Scout’s religious holidays: **Passover, Easter, **Rosh Hashanah, **Yom Kippur, Christmas.
**Jewish holidays begin and end at sundown. The event must end early enough to allow the participant to travel home prior to the beginning of the holiday, or the event must start late enough after the sundown conclusion of the holiday, to allow for travel to the event.
The NCAP program has existed for many years, previously focused on Summer Camps and Day Camps, but now the standards apply to Short-term (overnight) events at the district and council level as well. The goal of NCAP standards is to provide a safe, high quality Scouting program, and the standards are grouped into topics to be followed.
