The Cradle of Liberty Council SAFEguarding Scouts Committee tracks submitted incident reports (Near Miss, General Liability and Membership Infraction) and analyzes them by connecting to the SAFE Checklist. We do a primary and secondary connection of incidents three times during the year and look for seasonal trends. Supervision and Equipment & Environment are the leading categories of SAFE Checklist issues for council incident reports. Equipment and Environment is the leading SAFE Checklist category during our winter months, while it drops to third during our fall months that are relatively mild weather-wise. Supervision issues increase throughout the year becoming the leading SAFE Checklist issue in the summer when we record three times the number of incidents compared to the other thirds of the year. Supervision is responsible for over 75% of our SAFE Checklist issues in the fall when we see an increase in the number of membership infractions reported compared to the rest of the year. Issues with Fitness & Skill are highest during the summer months, while Assessment is a minor category for council incident reports.
